I spent my time at Portia, a small, but thriving, Django-powered web development company. It was a great experience and I learned a lot about the software development process. One of the things I took away from my time at Portia is that friendship and marriage are very important to success in the software development field. In fact, one of the most important skills you can develop as a developer is your ability to build strong relationships with other people. Here are some tips on how to make sure you’re successful in building strong relationships with other people:

  1. Be honest with your partners and colleagues. honesty is key in any relationship. If you’re not honest with your partners and colleagues, they’ll likely be less likely to trust you as a developer or partner. This will lead to problems down the road and may even result in your departure from the company.
  2. Be open to new ideas and perspectives. If you’re not open to new ideas or perspectives, you’ll likely find yourself behind schedule or without an opportunity for growth within the company. This will lead to frustration and eventually parted ways with your partner or colleague.
  3. Be supportive of your partner’s career goals and dreams. If your partner is working towards their career goals while also being supportive of yours, that’s an excellent combination! This will help keep both of you happy and motivated throughout their career journey!
