Final Fantasy XIV’s Halatali dungeon is notoriously difficult, but there are ways to make it a little bit easier. Here are four tips to help you beat the dungeon:

  1. Make sure you have the right gear. Halatali is a tough dungeon, and you’ll need the right gear to survive. Make sure you have high-level armor and weapons, as well as plenty of healing items.
  2. Don’t be afraid to use your party members. Halatali is a cooperative dungeon, so don’t be afraid to ask your party members for help. They’ll be happy to lend a hand if they’re able!
  3. Use the right strategy. The best way to beat Halatali is by using a strategy that works for you and your party members. Experiment with different tactics until you find one that works best for you and your team mates.
  4. Be patient and persistent. Halatali can be tough, but if you stick with it, eventually you’ll reach the end! ..

Detailed Unlock Walkthrough

To unlock Halatali (Hard), you’ll first need to clear its normal level 20 version. This is an optional dungeon that’s unlocked with the quest “Hallo Halatali” from Nedrick Ironheart in Western Thanalan (X:12.0, Y:14.0).

Next, complete the level 50 Main Scenario Quest “The Ultimate Weapon” and a new quest to unlock Halatali (Hard) will become available.

This quest can be accepted from Hugubert in the Seventh Heaven at Revenant’s Toll in Mor Dhona (X:22.0, Y:8.0).

Hugubert will inform you that he’s gotten word of a challenge that suits a seasoned adventurer such as yourself.

He goes on to tell you about the current state of Halatali and how its new owners aim to use it as a training ground for gladiators and adventurers.

Hugubert will then tell you to speak with his friend Arlh at Halatali if you’re interested in taking on the challenges at the training grounds.

Make your way over to Halatali in Eastern Thanalan. The quickest way is to take the aetheryte to Camp Drybone and head south.

You will find Arlh right next to the dungeon’s entrance at (X:14.7, Y:30.0). After welcoming you to Halatali and talking a bit about Hugubert’s past, Arlh will recognize you as the same hero who saved Halatali, referencing the first time you went through the normal version of the dungeon.

After one final warning about the challenges that await inside the new and improved Halatali, the dungeon will unlock and appear in your Duty Finder.

Rewards from Halatali (Hard)

Halatali (Hard) is pretty standard when it comes to the rewards it has to offer.

In this dungeon, you’ll find your typical level appropriate gearsets, items, and tomestones.

Loot

Like most other dungeons in FFXIV, Halatali (Hard) can drop a variety of equipment from different gearsets. Some of these gearsets include the Shikaree set for ranged DPS classes and the Darklight Cowl set for healers.

Equipment obtained from this dungeon have an item level of 70.

The only other item you can find in the coffers of Halatali (Hard) that isn’t a piece of armor or accessory is the “Beneath Bloodied Banners” Orchestrion Roll. This is the orchestrion roll for the music that plays during several boss fights throughout A Realm Reborn.

Duty Roulette

As a level 50 dungeon, Halatali (Hard) will be included in the Level 50/60/70/80 Roulette.

While this Duty Roulette doesn’t offer as much experience points as the Leveling Roulette, it is still a great source of tomestones.

The Level 50/60/70/80 Roulette will reward you with 100 Allagan Tomestones of Poetics after using it. If you use a job that is already at level cap, you will instead be rewarded with 120 of the latest form of tomestones.

Poetics is a form of currency that can be exchanged for level 50, 60, 70, or 80 gearsets from certain NPCs such as Rowena’s Representatives found in each major city. The rewards from Duty Roulette reset every day at 11AM EST.
